This is kind of difficult (not as difficult as the original instructions make it out to be) and should only be attempted by people who are nerds, or are
friends with nerds
NOTE: This section assumes you are using XP, as this is the system it was first successfully hacked on by theantiblog
PLEASE READ/UNDERSTAND ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE ATTEMPTING
- Download reshacker.
- After decompressing to a sutiable folder, go my computer>c:>documents and settings>username>sendto (turn hidden folders on if nessicary)
add a shortcut to reshacker to the sendto folder (right click/drag)
- Now search your windows folder for explorer. Searching explorer.exe will not return the needed results, so search explorer only.
- Find the prefetch (extention is .pf) right click>open containing folder to make sure you have the right one (should be in prefetch) and delete
it.
- ok, now right click on the other explorers (explorer.exe should be 3 or so) and go sendto>shortcut to reshacker. Open all of them
- Go to string table>37>1033 (its the only one there)
- Change the text from start to whatever you want
- DO NOT CHANGE ANY TEXT OTHER THAN START
- DO NOT REMOVE THE QUOTES
Here is an example of what the text should look like:
STRINGTABLE
LANGUAGE LANG_ENGLISH, SUBLANG_ENGLISH_US
{
578, "Fuck You"
579, "There was an internal error and one of the windows you were using has been closed."
580, "Restrictions"
581, "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator."
590, "Hiding your inactive notification icons..."
591, "To see the hidden icons, click this button."
}
- after changing the text as shown, click compile script, and then save. One will most likely not save, you must first close the explorer.exe process using task manager
- Making sure you deleted the prefetch first, hit ctrl+alt+delete and go to the process tab
- Find the explorer.exe process, right click on it, and click end process. Say yes at the dialog
- explorer (windows, icons, start menu) will disapear. This is normal.
- click on file (in task manager) and go to "start new process (run)" type explorer.exe at the prompt
- The "start" text should be replaced by whatever you changed it to. If it isn't or your computer crashes, refer to these directions again (assumedly on
a different computer)
